“Socially Distant, Spiritually Close”

As president of the ministry, Words of Worth, Inc., I am excited to announce the publication of a perpetual advent devotional entitled, Socially Distant, Spiritually Close. Co-authored with Words of Worth board member, fellow Bible Study leader, and friend, Susan Weber, this book was inspired by the pandemic of 2020, which changed many things in our lives, not the least of which was how we celebrated Christmas. Words and phrases such as, “unprecedented” and “social distancing”, crept into our language and became very commonplace. The world moved from red to yellow, and in some cases, to green phases of reopening, but the hopeful thought of celebrating Christmas in a totally green phase was unrealized. We celebrated Christmas in a socially distant manner.
Many of us could not wait to turn the calendar from 2020 to 2021, thinking that flipping the calendar page would also “flip the switch” to a return to normal, and that somehow we would be out of the pandemic. However, well into 2021 we are still dealing with the pandemic, vaccinations, and now a variant of the virus that could prove to be more deadly than our introduction to Covid-19! Yes, the world is opening up again and many aspects of life feel more normal, but there are still pockets of social distancing in effect.
Regardless of how the global pandemic plays out in the years to come, and regardless of how social distancing may fade away, we want to encourage you to remain spiritually close to one another and to our Heavenly Father. Thus our devotional, Socially Distant, Spiritually Close!
Our book contains a reading and reflection for each of the 24 days of December leading up to Christmas Day. Please join us as we anticipate and celebrate the coming of Christ this Christmas. The GIVING, the GATHERING, and the GAIETY of celebrating may require some social distancing now and in the years to come. However, GOD WITH US has made it possible to remain spiritually close to each other and to our heavenly Father. SOCIALLY DISTANT, SPIRITUALLY CLOSE!
