“Silence is golden,” so they say, but I say, “Silence is often misunderstood.” When I was in elementary school, my neighborhood friends and I would observe three hours of silence, from noon-3 p.m., as a means of reflecting on Jesus’ crucifixion. I have a devotional book I use every morning. It’s a simple collection of verses – no commentary or cute stories – just a few Scriptures grouped around a common theme.
