One of the occupational hazards of being a professor is that every summer I HAVE to teach overseas in places like Germany, Thailand, Hong Kong or Brazil. I know! I know! It’s a tough job but someone has to do it, right? And weekends are tougher when I take a short drive from Germany to the Alsace or to one of my favorite countries, Switzerland.
While that may all sound idyllic, there is a down side to travel in foreign countries and that is finding a television station that is in…

During the month of October, I tried to study a different Biblical virtue everyday and journal a few thoughts about what that virtue “looks like” in my life. Towards the end of the month, the verse for the day was Psalm 25:21 and I had two virtues to consider: “Honesty and Integrity”.
“May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.”
Depending on the Bible translation you use, it might say “preserve” instead of protect but the original meaning of the word is “to guard” so the…

For several years, I have been fond of saying that I keep a “5K” in my back pocket. Now I certainly don’t mean I keep five thousand dollars there. My “5K” is a reference to running not money.

Today’s blog will be part reflection, part confession, part prayer request and quite frankly will be a peek into a very personal part of my (Cammy’s) world. See, I’ve been journaling my thoughts and prayers for years. Never did I think anyone would read what I was writing. I certainly didn’t imagine books would bear my name or a weekly blog would exist where I try to encourage people I don’t even know! Once these blogs are posted, they become sort of a “public record” of my spiritual progress….

Anybody remember STOP, DROP and ROLL? When I was in elementary school, one of our big events was to have the fire department come and explain the safety procedures in case of an emergency. The first thing they taught us to do in a fire was to STOP, DROP and ROLL.
I’ve thought about that warning a lot lately. Thankfully my recollection wasn’t needed for an actual fire but because I’ve been traveling so much. When I travel, I always ROLL up my clothes. It’s really amazing how much you…
