Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning to summer, a day of barbecues and picnics, and also a solemn day to remember those who have passed from this life. Specifically, for war veterans and the families of fallen soldiers, Memorial Day is a day of deep significance! Today is the 13^th anniversary of my 50^th birthday! I do not think I have ever publicly announced my birthday as I typically leave that to others. However, today is a different kind of birthday because I spent the majority of it at a funeral.
