It’s November and time to start Christmas shopping. My first step is to ask my children and grandchildren what they want for Christmas. It isn’t a hard question for them and they certainly have long lists. However, when I’m asked that question, I have to think. At my age, there aren’t many things I need and that question is more difficult to answer.

Simple Definition of overwhelm according to Merriam Webster:
- to affect (someone) very strongly
- to cause (someone) to have too many things to deal with
After 14 weeks of studying the book of Philippians and the topic of “Joy Makers, Joy Takers”, and on the last day of bible study, I was overwhelmed. As I was teaching the final lesson, the women were sitting in front of me with a huge secret that would “affect someone (me) very strongly”. Most people do not find it difficult to love nice people, but when it comes to loving someone who is different, difficult, or frequently in our company, love can become a challenge. Yet we are commanded in Scripture, to “…love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:31) Who better than the apostle Paul to model this for us?

Happiness is finding a pencil, pizza with sausage, sharing a sandwich, and anyone or anything loved by you. Or so sings Charlie Brown.

Certainly those are very happy events but what happens to our happiness when our circumstances are not favorable towards finding a pencil, having pizza with sausage, or having a sandwich to share? Do I lose it?
